Council Approval for Tasmanian Secondary Dwellings

Under the Tasmanian Planning Scheme, secondary dwellings (granny flats) are generally permissible on lots zoned Residential — subject to setbacks, site coverage and overlay constraints. We manage the entire planning pathway with your local council so you don't have to.

Planning permit pathway

Most TAS secondary dwellings require a planning application with your local council. Some compliant developments may qualify for an exempt pathway under the Planning Scheme.

Bushfire (BAL) assessment

Much of Tasmania is bushfire-prone. A BAL assessment is commonly required and we coordinate it as part of your approval package.

Wastewater & TAS Water

Urban blocks connect to TAS Water sewer; rural blocks may need an on-site wastewater system. We confirm the right path for your site early.

Full-circle management

From concept drawings and engineering through to permit lodgement and conditions discharge — one team across Hobart, Launceston, Devonport and statewide.
